More Than a Standard CR2 Battery Order
For an industrial battery project, selecting the right battery is only one part of the purchasing process. Packaging structure, transportation method, carton weight, OEM requirements and order quantity can also affect how practical the final supply solution will be.
A customer approached PKCELL for a
CR2 3.0V 850mAh battery
solution with specific OEM packaging requirements.
The customer required a multi-level packaging configuration that included:
The key question was therefore not simply how to customize the packaging, but how to create an OEM packaging structure that matched the customer's current order while remaining practical for future orders.
Four Factors Had to Be Balanced
Shipping Method
Sea freight and courier transportation have different practical requirements. The customer needed a packaging configuration that could be adjusted according to the selected shipping method.
Carton Weight
As more batteries are packed into a shipping carton, total carton weight becomes an important consideration. The packing hierarchy needed to remain suitable for handling and transportation.
OEM Packaging MOQ
Customized color-printed packaging has minimum order quantity requirements. For an initial order, producing more custom packaging than the project actually requires can create additional cost and packaging inventory.
Future Scalability
The customer also needed a solution that could support higher order volumes later without requiring the entire packaging strategy to be redesigned.
Packaging Configurations Based on Shipping Method
After reviewing the customer's requirements, PKCELL proposed different packaging configurations according to the planned transportation method.
Balancing Custom Branding with Initial Order Quantity
The customer's small inner box could be customized with its own logo and artwork, allowing the customer-facing packaging to meet the required OEM presentation.
However, a customized color-printed outer carton also has its own packaging MOQ. If the initial order does not reach that quantity, producing a full batch of customized outer cartons could increase upfront packaging cost and create unnecessary packaging inventory.
Customize What Matters First
Customized OEM Inner Box
+
Neutral / Plain Outer Carton
When future order volume increases and reaches the required packaging MOQ, the customer can then upgrade the outer carton to a fully customized OEM version.
What Does This Approach Help the Customer Achieve?

OEM Battery Packaging Is More Than Adding a Logo
In an industrial battery project, OEM packaging should be evaluated as part of the complete purchasing and logistics process.
Customer requirements, transportation method, carton weight, packaging MOQ, initial order quantity, packaging cost and future order scalability all influence which packaging structure is most practical.
For this project, PKCELL's approach was not to push the maximum level of customization from the beginning. Instead, the packaging configuration was developed around the customer's actual order and shipping requirements, while leaving room for additional OEM customization as future order volumes increase.
