No, absolutely not. The 2CR5 is a primary (non-rechargeable) battery. It is designed for single use only. Attempting to recharge it is extremely dangerous and can lead to severe safety hazards, including leakage, overheating, rupture, or fire. Always replace a depleted 2CR5 battery with a new one.

 

How does a 2CR5 battery compare to a CR123A or a CR-P2?

While all three are lithium primary batteries, they are not interchangeable.

  • 2CR5 is a single-unit, 6V battery primarily used in cameras and flashes.
  • CR123A is a smaller, 3V battery used in many flashlights, cameras, and security systems. You cannot use two CR123A batteries as a direct replacement unless the device is specifically designed for it.
  • CR-P2 is also a 6V lithium battery, but it has a different physical shape and terminal layout. A device designed for a 2CR5 will not accept a CR-P2, and vice versa. Always check your device's manual to ensure you purchase the correct battery.
